i feeeear to venture out of the house
because i am the very depressed victim of a DISASTER HAIRCUT
-sobs-
i dunno what in the name of heaven and earth and the 8 levels of hell posessed me to go chop off my hair this time because i swear it looked fine and dandy as it was
my darlin' zhi has been so sweet about it though, saying it doesn't look bad at all
but then again he said i'm the one who resembles a mushroom now
and methinks that comment speaks volumes innit?!!!?

-hides head in paperbag-

its so bad that i didnt have the guts to pop down to the advertising agency office for my appointment with some consultant person today (talent scouted again! haha. in my opinion, by a blind woman/desperate firm because really, who wants to see a person with hair like me in any sort of ad or doing any sort of modelling eh) so there goes my dreams of supaaah-starrrdom *poof* hahahaha

chinablack was SO packed last night
packed to the extent that even ticket holders couldnt get in
bleedin' effin' ^%!&*@#

went visiting with eugene to see terk + wife + babybaby!
once again lemme stress that i am in no way a big fan of little kids/babies
but this baby was pretty darned adorable i tell yer.
hardly cries and she looks like a tiny angel
had some champagne and turned lobsterish pink
stayed and chatted till around 6pm before heading home
and i see shankar is a recurring theme with those 2 cheeky men hawhaw

got home and waited for alvin to come round to see my baby kookie
thanks to the heavy rain though we had to cancel that
but in the end alvin, aaron, leonard and i went to town to catch Peter Pan
which was a rather whimsical show
(the lead actress has amazingly large horsey teeth don't ya'll think?)
then we met may, joel and friends outside chinablack
found out that we couldnt get in due to massive crowds
saw isabel, libin, shuen, chris and a few others there as well
got fed up of waiting and we headed to the living room at marriott hotel for drinks instead
however we lost the trio of alvinaaronleo shortly after getting there
because they were tired and had to book in early
what a pity!
hopefully we'll get to meet up properly again before i leave

so it was down to the 4 of us
may joel dayu myself
then 2 other couples joined us
ordered 2 bottles of Moët & Chandon with strawberries by the side
yummmmmy.
may and i, naturally, turned violently red after half a flute each
but HAHA
i'm still a better drinker than HER
but anyhow i ended up having around 2 flutes altogether plus a lychee martini that zhi ordered for me when he joined us there at around 1++am
hung around and chatted till 2+am before we all headed off, joel very kindly driving z and meself to miew's place where we spent the night
(if anyone wants to hear about may's drunken antics... you know how to reach me hahhahahaha kiddin')

so well last night was quite a letdown in a way but in other ways it certainly exceeded my expectations
so i really can't complain

p.s. thank you velly muchly miewmiew for letting us crash at your place it is greatly appreciated and youse will get your manymany longs of xiaolongbaos sooon!!!

still bleary eyed and groggy from newsroom bar
bleh
it was pretty fun, despite the retro music
went with aaron & leonard but met quite a few others there like betty, althea etc etc
boy can all of 'em daaance man!
watched SCHOOL OF ROCK w may and the 2 chaps before that and prior to that we had a good dinner at whassthatplacecalled? the soup restaurant @ paragon
the movie ROCKED man (lameass pun but what the hell. its true!)

drunken lecherous overenthusiastic pervy minded shites should be BANNED from clubs though
there're always a few who never fail to annoy me everytime
-grrrrrr-

but the good news?
i didn't get totalled
go me.

many thanks, leo for letting me sleepover last night!
you=lifesaver.
haha

ugh what a huge grin from me. laughing at smth before that probably. may and leo complete the pretty picture

aaron.leo.me

betty (woohooo pretttty gurlie with loveeeeely hair n what a super dancer!) and me caught laughing!

jiahui #1 betty jiahui #2 leo

shopping with miewmiew my rawkstar-fashion designer guru was funfunfun
also hilarious because i have discovered she might just be a wee bit dyslexic when it comes to reading words printed on tees and tops etc etc
hahaha
we also ate a HELLLLLLUVA lot
bk, then baker's inn, then din tai fong (is that the right name?)
and if anyone knows how XIAO LONG BAOS are made
more specifically, regarding how the soup stays in the baos
COMMENT!

had dinner with unkle eugene last night at al forno's (crayfish pasta. mmmm.) and then we headed off for dessert at the cheesecake cafe (chocolate cheesecake. more mmmm.)
all in the east!
a damned shame too because the cheesecake cafe has REALLY yummmm cheesecakes whyyy must the place be located soooo far away
listening to eugene's stories/expressions/euphemisms etc are always a laugh
he is a right funneh bloke, that one!
yes and thanks to him and his citibank card i got my fcuk tee at 15% off
that was REALLY nice of yer dude-- big thankews from me
turned VERY red after gulping down glasses of this strawberry wine thingy during dessert
and as usual many insults about my massive inability to drink were thrown my way

the real test, however, comes tonight
we're going to clubclubcluuub!
i wonder how many drinks it'll take for me to get smashed eh

even though i absolutely, completely, totally enjoyed myself shopping whilst in sydney
it sure as hell can't beat shopping back home in SG (although i'd have to say the shops in sydney are much, much funkier and loads more fun to browse in)
because the bargains you find here are way way way better

while waiting for may yesterday evening in town
i tried on about 10-12 pieces of clothing within an hour
all very inexpensive
all pretty nice
but because i've already blown so much cash on the sydney trip
i bought just 1 pretty pink top from zara and another top from guess
the best thing?
grand total spent: $35

now how many places in this big wide world can you get fantastic bargains like that eh.
haha

i'm not a big fan of stussy but as i was browsing around their site i came across these
i kinda like 'em and i wannntsss them, preciouuss
hahaha

grand ward round today was an educational experience
attended a presentation about the "multidimensionalities of schizophrenia"
boy i sure learnt loads from that, i tell you
now at least i have a clearer understanding regarding biopsychosocial mechanisms and a few other theories as well
this attachment is pretty darned good for me because--
not only do i actually get to see patients displaying symptoms of the various disorders that i've till now, only been able to read up about
i'm also learning new things everyday and its a fascinating experience for me

started work at NUH today
at the department of psychological medicine

sheesh i'm absolutely knackered
physically and emotionally, after seeing some of the patients today

clinical psych is not something i'm considering any longer i think
how one remains detached and emotionally unaffected, i dont know

HAPPY BELATED 20TH BIRTHDAY TO AARON THAM!!!
someone's an OLDE MAN now hohoho
have a very blessed 20th year ahead dude =)

>>>

hokay so the SYDNEY trip was a BLAST!
possibly one of the best getaways i've EVAAAH been on

however
it is a fairly expensive city
and despite the million gazillion billion sales going on, i only purchased 3 (!!!) items
i kid you not
2 tops and a pair of shoes
because even with the sales going on
i absolutely REFUSE to pay likesay $40-50 odd for a paul frank tee
or worse still
$50-70 for a diesel tee
i mean, c'mon!
its a tee-shurt only y'know
you can print one for under $20 (hur)
there was also this funkymama a/x top i fell in love with but because it was strikingly similar to my miss sixty top i decided against getting it
so i exercised massive, phenomenal amounts of self-control whilst shopping there and i must say i am rather proud of meself for not being a crazy madarsed consumer hahahaha

received a very very very precious present as well
finding that little turquoise box under the pillow was such an unexpected surprise
i LURRRVE it and i can't thank you enough for it
really you shouldn't have =)
-hugs-

moving along now.
here's what we did there (highly condensed version)
some pictures included (if they dont load it means the bandwith has died on me-- you can always see more photos at the usual place eh)

day 1:
got really annoyed by these EFFING RUDE BLEEDIN CHINAMEN who basically head-butted and violently pushed their way through the crowd whilst waiting for luggage. also got HIT by aforesaid chinamen's luggage when they collected it and URGH they are just incredibly rude its people like THEM who give their country a bad name. URRGH! met zhi who'd been waiting for me for ages (sorry!) and made our way down to the city. random walking around, went to the wrong hotel at 1st (went to pacific international apartments instead of pacific international hotel), walked down george street to discover (a wee bit of) the marvelllloouuuus shopping in town, dinner at chinatown where i had 'nian gao' with XO chilli sauce it was yummy yummy delish mmm thinking about it is actually making me hungry

our room at pac intl hotel

day 2:
did a full day's worth of shopping. was v 'sad' (haha) because this funky morrissey top that i liked was 2 sizes too big for me. but all was not lost! because i found myself a pair of diiiiviiinnee pink suede heels and of course pretty pink shoes make me one happy girl. haha i'm terrible. the day culminated in a visit to the nearby bottle shop, the rest of the night is a blur oh wait i think we went to hoyts to watch Lost in Translation that night. also got my arse kicked at daytona by zhi (SNEAKY BUGGER YOU) but methinks my shooting skills are quite a lot better than his. ho hum.

prettty piiiink shoes

day 3:
sydney opera house tour, went on a cruise, attempted to get up to the harbour bridge pylon lookout thingy (but gave up along the way), visited the powerhouse museum, takeaway japanese dinner

the sydney opera house

the sydney harbour bridge

view of the city from the cruise ship

more of the city-- can you see the sydney tower?

the cruise ship we were in

day 4:
half day tour of sydney city, the suburbs and manly, went to the aquarium, went on the harbourjet ride which totallly KICKED ASS (although we got completely drenched), checked into SWISSOTEL (how unbelievably LUX was that! aaahhh if only i was a tai tai. then i could stay there all the time), ending off the day with an unforgettable dinner at the sydney tower's revolving restaurant 300m in the sky!!! had fried/chilli prawns, fish, honey chicken, roast leg of ham, ribs, roast emu, kangaroo, camel, lasagne, chicken satay, chicken curry, lemon cheesecake and ice cream, chocolate slices, strawberry meringue, fruity yoghurt things, i'm sure i've missed out some foodie items but yeh you get the idea. basically ate a bleeeeedin' heap. also i think i am tres pathetique because i felt rather drunk/giddy/headachey after just one MEASLY strawberry champagne cocktail and a few gulps of merlot. or was it something else? haha.

manly beach

fishy fishies at the sydney aquarium

darling harbour-- we boarded the jetblast ride somewhere around here methinks

swissotel

at level 2, the tower restaurant (with me turning lobsterish from the alcohol as usual ACK!)

the "professional" photo that this lady took of us (before we started eating and DRINKING. notice lack of flushed colouration on me)

day 5:
more shopping along market street/george street/pitt street blah blah, took a bus to the harbour, walked around enjoying the gorgeous sunny weather, more shopping at the rocks, collected our luggage from swissotel and went back to pac intl-- however due to some glitch in their booking system they apparently didn't get confirmation of our online booking for the last 2 nights! thankfully zhi settled that rather quickly by popping over to the nearby internet cafe and printed out the receipt so after about 15 mins of waiting we got our room-- UPGRADED (to an executive room) no less. HAW HAW. trawled through the mess that was my luggage to find my bikini + other beach paraphernalia and then we set off for... BONDI BEACH! the weather was amazing, the sea was an unbelievable shade of turquoisey bluuue, hot surfer guys in plentiful abundance (also many hot topless chicks but i think they appealed to someone other than me haha), now i am many shades darker and in a considerable amount of pain due to sunburrrn, the water was freezing at first but real fun to frolick around in and there were some massive (at least to me) waves! met helmut at bondi and we had japanese dinner before heading back to our respective hotels

at bondi beach

day 6:
WONDERLAND DAY!!! we met helmut at central station at 9.15am to catch the 9.30am train to rooty hill-- however we didn't realise we had to change lines at strathfield and thus we ended up at some godforsaken stop farfarfar away, if not for helmut realising our mistake some 20 mins later we would've ended up even FURTHER away haha! missed the train back to strathfield by a second, waited some 10 mins for it, arrived back in strathfield at 11am, MISSED THE TRAIN TO ROOTY HILL BY A SECOND YET AGAIN, had to wait likesay 15mins + for the next one, finally got to rooty hill at around 11.40am and caught the bus to wonderland at 11.45am. went on manymanymany rides, the demon the space probe the pirate ship a water ride the whirly thingys etc etc it was SO fun and i felt like a little girlie all over again! had to queue for ages to get onto some of the rides but it was fun nonetheless. helmut absolutely refused to go on the space probe and the pirate ship sadly. grrr. fun stuff, got even MORE sunburnt though. met stacey for the yummmmmiest dinner at darling harbour. was real good catching up with her and hearing her hilarious stories, also we got to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere complete with the latino festival taking place there as well! so crowded but it was grreeeat. the nightlife there (and i dont mean the clubbing or whatever) is super duper!

the train

helmut and me on the train to rooty hill

the demon

the space probe

the ferris wheel-esque ride

sitting in the ferris wheel-esque ride high in the sky

stacey and me after dinner

darling harbour at night-- check out the crowd!

day 7:
checked out of the hotel (durrh), went to paddy's market and bought pressies for the family, more last minute shopping for gifts at pitt street and the likes. very grudgingly made our way to the airport, and well, here i am back in singapore now. bleh!

what an AMAZING holiday it was
thankew m'darling zhi for making this trip one of the BESTEST holidays ever. it was absolutely unforgettable!

domenica, gennaio 04, 2004

making full use of the internet at the airport

if i ever were to have a little sister (or a kid, for that matter)
i want one JUST like fide
she's about the only baby in the world i absolutely adore

so i'm spending new year's day babysitting
a baby girl and a puppy dog
fun eh?

cookie is a mischevious rascal
she scampers everywhere and chews and bites on anything and everything and doesn't let go
my hair included
legs and arms are full of mini teeth marks and horrible bleeding scratches from her sharp little paws
i look like a victim of domestic abuse right now and its really nasty
also she wees and poos every-bloody-where
and i have to clean up!!!
now everytime i see a puddle on the floor i shriek and holler and curse and swear and rush for a rag immediately
the evil git jules decided to exploit that new-found fear of mine last night and he poured wine on the floor
and of course he enjoyed watching me panic and run around trying to mop it all up before finally admitting it was merely a prank
he paid very dearly for that, of course
damn bugger.
last night poor adrian and matt were the incredibly lucky ones who received cookie's showers of blessings when they carried her
hawhaw -points and laughs-
then there's also fide who i've got to feed, entertain, and bring to the loo etc
i didn't know whether to laugh or to cry when she pulled my skirt and whispered "fide want to shee-shhee on the floor" (ie: she wants to go wee)
but that aside
she is an absolute angel who's polite, sweet, cute, gentle, good-tempered and OH i just loooove this little girl
in fact
i think i love her more than cookie right now
hahahahhaa

looking after a puppy's SUCH hard work (not that i'm complaining, its a responsibility i'm willing to take on)
so can you imagine looking after your own baby?!?!?
possibly a gazillion times worse
which is why i've vowed never to become a mother.
hoohah!
unless, of course, my kiddo turns out to be like fide
if not
prepare to read about the latest infanticide in the papers soon

>>

photos from last night, m'dears, are not fit to be shown to the world
and no
its not because we did anything kinky (hoho though what tam and stephen did in my guest room i can't even begin to guess)
was utterly smashed after all that drinking and so EVERY EFFING PHOTO IS BLURRY beyond recognition
sorry eh clo jules adrian matt tamara wj stephen
matt lemme know if your photos came out ok

mid-way through a fandabidozi bbq now
we're all waiting as the blokes barbeque the lobsters, the chicken, the lamb etc etc
and i'm trying to type out my application letter for the attachment at NUH
but getting v distracted because clo and tam keep squealing over my cookie babeeeeh
and since julien has FREEEE tickets to the NYE party
we just might be going later on
if we're not too gassed from the 6 (!!!) bottles of wine i have chilling in my freezer right now

anyhow
Happy 2004!
have a RAWKIN' year ahead everyone
