{Noise Pollutant}
i think my neighbour sally must probably be
supremely annoyed with me now
ching and
james came over late after my tute last night
watched the bourne identity off my laptop
and as usual, whereever ching goes
noise is sure to follow
then
denny popped by with PIZZZZA!
and naturally i had to call my other neighbour
richard to partake in the feasting
with 5 people + pizza in a small room
it was getting a bit rank so i opened all my windows
and we made SO damn much noise
i think
ching made 60% of the noise actually
haha.
well it got to extent that sally called me up to tell us to "quiet down"
ooooops.
the bloody scariest one was
min ai tho'
about 3 seconds after sally called
my phone rang again
and by then we were all like "FUUUUCKIT"
so i picked it up
and heard
MIN AI!!!
haha.
what a RELIEF.
conversation btw us went smth like this:
m.a: "was that you all laughing just now?"
me: "haha yes! why? how did you know?"
m.a: "i could hear you all! i thought it was the drunk aussies but then i listened carefully and heard some local (ie: s'porean/m'sian) slang! then i could make out ching and richard's laughter!"
me: "HOLY CRAP BUT YOU'RE IN ASTEN! That's a fuckin' block away!"
m.a: "yah lor. You guys quite loud lei. But very funny, when you guys laugh, i laugh too!"
me: "OOOOMMMMGGGG HAHA shiiiiit this is bad! sorry ah"
m.a: "hee hee you all give the aussies a run for their money man"
me: "OMMMMG. yeeeeah. but at least there's 1 aussie here so we can push the blame on him yar! he's a bad influence on us peaceful, quiet asians"
m.a: "hee heeee heee you all?! Quiet?! Heeee (ad nauseum)"
So yeah.
fuuck.
we were LOUD.
very, very loud.
Asten is literally one whole block from Vines
i nearly died when she said she could hear us
Meaning i think the WHOLE of Vines and Fleming and half of Asten probably heard our raucous laughter (and then some)
i think if we're going to have any more pizza parties--
we'll go to someone else's room, in another block
and disturb the helloutta everyone else in that vicinity
haha.

{Pfft}
formal tea last night
plus it was fellow's night
so basically we had to
really dress up properly
its funneh to see all the guys in ties and all
but major
"PFFFT" because i missed out on the pre-dinner drinks/reception at Franny P.
why?
i was trying to avoid stepping on my damn academic gown (those bloody things are EVIL) and my right ankle just went kapoot on me
it suddenly buckled and i fell down
ching, being the
lovely person that she is, was far far far faaaaar too distracted by the likes of bj, corey and the rest of the chaps to realise i had actually stopped walking next to her
so i just sat on the steps nursing my ankle till
tom passed by and tried to help
by that time (say what, 7 minutes)
ching finally ran back to see if i got lost (!!!)
Hrmph
lost, indeeeed.
anyhow managed to hobble all the way to the dining hall
food was amazingly decent last night
altho the 'fellow' at my table was
fuckkkkin' condescending
she was like "i should bring you all (ref to ppl at my table) to Port Arthur, its only around $15 for a day trip"
then she turns to joslin, helmut and myself and asks "can you all afford it? Oh of course you both can, the American dollar and the Euro are such strong currencies! ..."
*pause*
then she looks at me and goes "i
do hope you can afford it?"
its not so much what she said, but her TONE and her EXPRESSSION
F****KIN B****TCCCHH
if i can't bloody afford to go to bloody port arthur i wouldn't be able to bloody afford to be studying in aussie eh!?!
and throughout the dinner she was oh-so-interested in what the austrians and the americans had to say
but as for the little asian
naaaw.
she didn't even bother
racist harpy
so naturally my face was VERY very dark during the entire dinner
didnt help that i had a horribly throbbing ankle either
hateful.
thankfully i had a better time after dinner
hobbled all the way to
tom's room
(incidentally, he dyed his hair blue yesterday and now he bears some resemblance to mark mcgrath. whee.)
where he showed me his 5 guitars
and his sound system
and his speakers
and can i also just say
i've found meself a NU RAWK STAAAR
(hur.
milleh will still be my 1st rawk star tho)
he plays the guitar SUPER. BLOODY. BLOODY. WELL.
as in, amazingly, amazingly well
he can play jazz, rock, alternative, all sorts
and he plays 'em really well too!
i wish i had a recording of what he played to me last night
gee whiz
then we had a long-ish chat session
and i finally left his tres uber ultra coool (and not to mention LARGE, at least c.f. mine) room at about 12mn
why are all the nice people
not in vines?!
its a conspiracy, i tell you.

{of Abdominal Muscle Development}
spent the whole of yesterday w
zhi and
jehn
haha
i dunno why but everytime i'm with them i laugh A BLOODY LOT
its not the "ha ha, funny" kind o' cursory, short chortle
but the "HAWHAWHAWHAHWAAAAAAHHAHwhWhWHHWAHHAAAHAHA" and rolling off my seat, tears streaming outta my eyes kinda laughter
they came to my room to burrrrn movies/mp3s off the network
and
zhi does a mean impression of ali g
i nearly died
not entirely sure what we did the whole afternoon
but we generally laughed and shrieked (well maybe that was just me) a lot
gave in to our voyeuristic tendencies and went through almost everyone's pictures on the network (hur)
that made for entertaining viewing, i must say
and then
zhi, being the nosy parker he is
was rifling through my books
and picked up this thick tome (a
thriller, mind you!) a friend gave me
which i've yet to read (because am too busy being nerdy)
and promptly flipped to a rather
risque section
he went all quiet for a mo' before going "WOAH"
and i was like "What?!"
conversation is as follows--
z: what's this?
me: erm, a book?! duh.
z: *laughing* i didn't know you were into this kinda literature *proceeds to read a passage*
me: *gapes in embarrassed horror* eh i havent even read the bloody book!!! haha
z: like real, c'mon, admit it
me: *indignant* i HAVEN'T!!! I've been reading the new harry potter book!!!!!!
z: *laughing even more* hahahahhahahaha now i know why your mum sent you to a cold country, so that---
me: *chases him out of room and down the hallway brandishing slipper whilst yelling foul curses*
jehn: *laughing in my room*
DAMN THE BOY.
and when i responded to jehn's question of "how hot do you like your curry?"
ie: my response being "the hotter the better"
the bloody &*^$(*&%(!@* of a git, zhi, went "oh we know that already! she likes her stuff HOT, like her books hahahahahha'
and i really nearly strangled him
this was likesay an hour after the book incident, when we were at woolworths shopping for dinner ingredients
and everytime i said the word "hot", in any context
he would jiggle his eyebrows at me
URRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH
i feel so
wronged!!!
haha
anyhow-- it was good fun
because i had my 1st proper dinner in a week (the food at jane is getting fr worse to worse-er ha) + it was fully prepared by 2 guys (i didn't lift a finger at all, lovely innit?!)
and because we watched a cantonese movie with bloooody funneh engrish subtitles
which made us laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh
then after the movie, when i commented on the extreme tackiness of aussie tv commercials
zhi went like "Oh like singapore's are any better?"
and out of nowhere proceeded to re-ennact one of those old-grand-master-selling-some-damn-vitamin-pill adverts (i think it was smth like HVM pills)
which then led to MORE dodgy advert re-ennaction
and finally led to all of us laughing so damn hard that we were all in tears by the end of it all
and on a side note--
zhi was approached to be on Cleo's 50 most eligible bachelors list last year or summat
HA-HA-HAR-DE-HAAAA-HAAAAH
wtf man
he rejected it (too shy? pah. he said it was demeaning HAHA)
and he also felt that he was too young
yes indeed
young is the word
for heavens sakes!
i thought bachelors only became eligible (at least to these mags) when they earned oodles and oodles of MOOLAH/have v nice, cushy positions in some big company/have their own start-up companies etc etc (that's not forgetting the prerequisite "hot" bod, passion for a variety of sports blah blah)
and he's not even started uni yet
GEE.
so we've all come to the conclusion that singapore is
really running out of men who fit that mould
and that's quite damn sad for the females innit?
hahahahaha

{hear ye hear ye! good news abounds}
Reporting live from the Esplanade at the Finals of the Singapore Youth Festival 2003!
It bears noting that tonight’s SYF Finals should be markedly different from previous ones in that each choir has to present 5 songs, each of a different genre, and they are not allowed to sing the commissioned piece that was mandatory for the Central judging. his means that we won’t have to listen to the same song over and over again by different choirs tonight, which is in itself both a good and a bad thing. As things stand, we will hopefully partake of a rich choral concert tonight filled with a great variety of different styles of choral music.
Before I launch into any commentary, I must remind you from the beginning that I am saying everything I say about these choirs with a decidedly biased slant.
.....
.....
.....
(at this point i'd like to say-- if you want to see the whole report in its original, unadulterated glory, click on
joel's blog yes?)
FINALLY the ACJC Choir enters, at a nice stately pace that gives the girls plenty of room to move. (haha those DAMN tight kebayas! i rem the time i nearly didn't make it up to the 2nd tier during my jc1 syf competition. urrgh)
They all are, as expected, beaming away happily. Gosh, I love this choir.
The Choir’s performance is in fact nearly impeccable. Although the songs they sang I’ve heard many times before (and even performed before), they never cease to lose their shine. Spring Dreams remains one of my favourites of The College Choir’s repertoire, with the way it evokes the scene of a Chinese opera, while the sheer fun and nonsensicality of El Hambo continues to be fun and, uh, nonsensical. (is also
pam the disco mama's fave song hur)
It was interesting how, for all the previous choirs, applause was withheld until each choir had performed all 5 songs, but in The Choir’s case, applause burst out after 3 of their 5. There is no doubt at all in my mind who will take the award (again) tonight, but whether the adjudicators feel the same way remains to be seen.
And, after a 20-minute interval, the adjudicators are back! Time to get the results!
The MC stalls for time...
Blah blah blah blah boring blah blah blah blah blah.
More handing out of generic awards.
AND NOW!
The moment we’ve all been waiting for, according to the MC...
The Best JC Choir of the Year is...
Anglo-Chinese Junior College Choir!
O Lord my God, how great Thou art!
Happy day. Very happy. Happy happy happy happy happy.
:D :D :D :D :D
>>>
i'd also like to say
i'm REALLY SUPER-DUPER HAPPY FOR THEM TOO!
when i heard the news this early morn
i whooped
so loudly i think i woke my neighbour up
and he pounded on the (paper-thin) wall because he was concerned that something unnatural had happened to me
eeeeh.
haha.
Congrats are in order, to the entire choir + teacher-team who's been behind them all the way
what a rush!
that's like one of the nicest pieces of news i've gotten since coming to aussie
>>>
i'm a neerrrrrd
just finished doing my chemistry online web-tutorials
they just keep getting better and better
for last week's thermochem tut, i scored 9/10
and i was sooo frustrated about losing that 1 damn mark because i clicked on the wrong button
but hurrah to me
this week's tut on co-ordination chemistry had me grinning fr ear to ear because i got a 10 this time
ha.
can you imagine?
full marks?
ME!?
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA (ad nauseum)
what a monumental improvement from my status patheticus jc results
i hope to gawd
ching comes back soon
i duuuunn want to go to the party w/out her
and i've decided to go as erm, a waitress
because i found a stupid little frilly apron at a thrift shop this afternoon in salamanca
but we've all decided to change out of our costumes after an hour
so thank goodness for that

{reliving the ny legacy. NOT}
switched from sociology to--
chinese!!!
yeh
no kiddin'
sociology is interesting
but i really can't stand having such a heavy-duty elective
so far i've had to do the MOST work for soc
3 essays and 2 tutorials
within the 1st 2 weeks of term
goodness.
and like i said, its only an elective
and i'd like to concentrate on my core subjects this time
had the 1st lesson today-- what a joke!
let's just say i was learning how to use words like "le" and "zhui" (chase)
HURHUR
i'll definitely be getting one high distinction at the end of the year, methinks
zoo prac was a disaster
bloody difficult to track the damn parameciums and amoebas and euglenas and vorticella etcetc as they zip around the slides
and the absolute worst one was--
"examine the gut contents of a termite and draw 4 parasitic oraganisms found in the gut"
so i thought we'd have this nice solution of termite gut contents already
but NOoOO-OOoooOOOH!
our prof. pointed to this trough filled with rotting wood at the back of the lab
and gleefully told us we had to catch our own termites
and then--
pull off their heads in a certain way, so that all the guts came out with the head
FEEEEECK.
siccck man.
that part of the prac took me the longest time
sticking your hands into a trough full of rotting, damp, pungent wood is not fun
and its even worse when you see BILLIONS (at least it seemed that way to me) of termites running up your arm
(
aaron how'd you like that eh?! hahhaha-- rem. mealworms!)
eeks
just thinking about that makes me feel filthy
i think its time for a bath.
>>>
on a side note--
ryan,
spence,
imogen and
aaron (in order of received letters) are officially my favourite people now because they've actually bothered to send me
snail mail!!!
Hurrah!
thanks, you lot, for taking the time and effort.
and the rest of you-- WRITE TO ME
(or face my eternal wrath. hur.)
i wannnts your letters!!!!!!
ok.
>>>
syf finals tmr night
i
really really really wish i was back home so i could watch acjc sing too
i'm sure that with God's grace, they'll do well
(whatever the result may be *crosses fingers*)
>>>
amazing
food at tonight's formal dinner was quite alright
chicken schnitzel + cheesy potatoes
helmut has these plethora of funny expressions, as seen from tonight
and i wonder why
denny laughs so much at my expressions
he should see
helmut i tell yer
joslin ate a block of brie just before dinner
so obviously that girl didn't eat that much
speak of
jos
here she is:
she's a
really sweet girl, all the way from wyoming
going to the uniBar later w
donald,
joanna and their housemates
thank goodness
cat's got a car to pick me up from jane
there's going to be lots of beer
and other nasty, unhealthy stuff (hur)
i doubt i'll be turning up for my tuts tmr morning
p.s. there's a "What I Want To Be When I Grow Up Party" at jane tmr night
we need to like fancy dress for that
i know
james is going as a jedi knight
gawd knows what i'm going to go as
i have nothing to wear
maybe i should go as a Hogwarts student (yeh right)
after all--
i already have that damn BLACK academic gown
but then again, that's not v grown up is it
suggestions anyone?!!!
if i cant find a costume
i'm just going to be reclusive and hide out in my room
(ha)

{Mortifying}
I am bloody brilliant
amazingly, stupendiferously, overwhelmingly brilliant
I am brilliant because—
I bloody locked myself of my room
Haha, you say?
It gets worse
I locked myself out on my way to the bathroom
And I was going to the bathroom for what?
I was going there to have a bath!
And what was I wearing?
I was wearing a bloody flimsy bathrobe and not much else!
And to whom did I ask help for?
My neighbour
Richard!
A guy!
But he was reeeeaaaalllllly nice—
I got to wait in his room because he was worried I would catch a chill while he ran around Vines (my hall) trying to find the Vines RA
But to no bloody avail!
So he had to look for
Viney (spelling? Nickname? Name? Whatever. These dudes have weird names), the Aldrige RA
And Aldrige is like FAR, FARRRRR and away
You’ve got to climb a slope to reach Aldrige
And so basically I was mortally embarrassed when
Richard and
Viney came to help open my door, both of them grinning
(Oh
Viney looks SO MUCH like Adam LaVorgna, just with a thinner face)
And yes, I was in my bathrobe.
V. unglam.
*hangs head in shame*
On a lighter note
I went shopping w
andrea today!
Walked from uni to town
That took half an hour and my feeet were killing me in them damn uncomfy shoes
Went to Sportsgirl and we tried on
so many items
In the end I bought a fandabidozi halter (there was my size!) for $19.95, down from the rather exorbitant original price of $69.95
And
andrea bought 2 funky skirts— one of which reminded me of my old NYGH skirt, just in black
I told her I was SO proud of her for getting that one.
HUR HUR HUR.
But she’s bloody thin and oh-so-pretty, so anything, even that skirt looked good on her
PAH.
then we walked back to Jane
which took another half and hour
and now i have blisters the size of a 50c coin on my feet
not a pleasant feeling, i can tell you that
Tom’s going to teach me how to play the guitar
hurrah!
Free lessons.
Plus free guitar (!!!)
He has 4.
Wooo!
I like.
I sure hope I’m going to be better at that than at ping pong
Now all I need is some free time…

{ping pong playaaaah}
T3 was alright, nothing that great though
and CERTAINLY not blooooody worth $11
caught it on saturday along w
helmut the austrian,
brandon fr the land of the freedom fries,
dorjee from tibet (!!),
kaiyang and
richard fr m'sia.
nice chaps, that lot.
andrea came to church on sunday, must say i'm rather surprised
been chatting w her quite a bit recently
happening wild child, that one.
all her stories!
hur
if we were back in sg we'd probably
never have ever, ever given each other a 2nd glance
i'd probably go "BIIIITCH!" if i saw her and she'd probably go "NERRRRRRD!" if she saw me
hur.
but i'm glad i've gotten to know her, because i guess she's a nice person at heart
And if there's one thing i like about tassie--
its the SEAFOOD
bloody yummmmms.
If anyone ever visits this small place
GO TO MURES!!!!!! for the BESTEST (haha) seafood in town
their ice-cream is pretty delish too.
zhi tried his darnest to get me to buy the licorice flavoured one (which stains your teeth GREY)
but his attempts were in vain much to his disappointment
I mean, who EATS LICORICE ICE CREAM!?
Its like, eeeeuurrrrrrgh.
urrrgh. what next
ANISEED flavoured ice cream?
Hoo baby
Actually did manage to do some work-- did my chem assignments and stuff
went to the common room w
denny and co. (dunnnno how to spell their names so i'm not typing them out haha)
denny VERY kindly spent 3 hours teaching me how to play table tennis properly
it was bloooody hilarious
let's just say i'm a V BAD 'student'
but he's a v goooooodo coach man!
by the time we stopped it was already 1++am.
Amazing stuff.
so obv when we heard the announcement for table tennis tryouts tonight during formal dinner
i looked and him and he looked at me
and we both started laughing like crazy
how bout me trying out for the team eh!?!
Ha!

hokay
the new blogger system is annoying me
i dunno why
so my 1st week at uni's been fucking eventful
in every bad way possible
i am knowing endlessss tormentttt
still too traumatised after
that party to be wanting to type anything about it here
anyways am missing everyone back home v much :(
food here is DA DUMPS
and thats saying a lot, coming from "i'll eat almost anything" me
so i'm doing psychology, chemistry, zoology (because they dont offer damn bio to yr1 students-- its split into zoo and botany, and c'mon now who wants to study plants eh!???) and sociology
first week and there're tons of bloody assignments to do already
and the really bad thing is-- there's this network where i can d/l a craploada movies off other Jane residents for free
so i've been spending my time watching movies, going out and generally slacking around instead of being a nerd
frreeeak.
so here are mah 2 nu homies
ching who's a lovely lovely girly from kuching doing her foundations in the middle
and
andrea the
happpening at the right-- doing her final year in commerce and she's fr singapore too
and that's us in my spartan room
nice eh.
right
quite a lot of photos i have
just too busy/lazy to put them up
have a paaaacked morning tmr
double chem, zoo, and psych lectures
that's not even counting the tuts
FUCKIT why does it feel like singapore all over again eh?!
off to bed now
head feels like its being split into about 15 pieces
i have no self control
when there's free wine served (during formal dinner)
i chug it down
and i do so with no fear because i know its a 'controlled' environment
ie: NOT a party
Hell, i'm
never going to drink or go near drunk men during parties ever again
judging by the above statement
it sure looks like i wont be able to attend any more parties in the near future, methinks
